How to choose
Your videos are already on YouTube
An embed plugin is the shortest path: paste the link and you are done. Reno Product Gallery and Product Video Gallery also restyle the whole gallery as a slider. Keep in mind what an embed brings with it: the service's player and logo, its scripts and its cookies. More on that trade-off.
You want the video to be your own file
Look at the self-hosted options. Video Gallery for WooCommerce plays an MP4 or MOV you upload to the media library. Magic Product Video takes any common format, converts it to MP4 and WebM in a background queue, takes a poster frame from the clip and keeps product clips in their own video library.
You need a video per variation, or several videos per product
According to their WordPress.org pages, Product Video Gallery Premium adds a video per variation, Reno Product Gallery supports videos on variable products, and Video Gallery for WooCommerce Pro allows up to six videos per product. Magic Product Video shows one video per product and has no variation videos yet.
You need video on posts and pages too
Really Simple Featured Video covers posts and pages in its free version. Magic Product Video does it in Pro, with shortcodes and a template function.
Where Magic Product Video fits
It is the newest and smallest plugin on this list, built for one job: a short self-hosted clip as a real slide of the standard WooCommerce gallery, with the encoding done for you.
- Converts for you: MP4 (H.264) and WebM plus a poster frame, with FFmpeg on the server or, in Pro, in the browser on hosting without FFmpeg.
- Native gallery slide: works with the default WooCommerce gallery (FlexSlider, PhotoSwipe), block and classic themes.
- No outside service: no embeds, no tracking, no third-party scripts on the product page.
- Not yet: several videos per product, variation videos, YouTube links (planned).
